Is 13/47 gearing similar to 14/45?

Post by adic3001 » 01 Aug 2012, 23:13

Hi all iv decided to buy a new chain & sprocket set for my project crm which lead me to think about gearing.

I did some google research & looked on the forum here so I have an understanding but just wanted to get your opinions to be sure.

As I understand losing one tooth on the rear is equivalent to losing three on the rear.

With this theory I would say 13/47 gearing is similar to 14/45 right? Just like 1 rear tooth difference.

The reason I ask is the gearing I want to try is 14/45 but the company selling the set said the lowest gearing they have is 13/47.

Thanks for looking guys

Adi

Thanks for that knackered, didn't see that before as you could tell! I have a much better understanding of hearing now.

Can you wheelie the bike without using the clutch on this gearing? Just out of interest really as I'd love it if I had much low end power!

Cheers
