CRF250L

Post by xander77 » 12 Oct 2012, 21:33

I think I may have already asked this, but what does everyone think about the new CRF250L? I have to admit I am interested! is it the new CRM?
They say its good but the suspension is too soft for serious work? Sound familiar?

What do you think?

:( I have heard that they have been built down to a price, and DON'T EVER , foul a plug  it's one hell of a task getting at the damn thing.
With the reserves of engineering talent at their disposal a useful TRAIL bike with long service intervals, and a design philosophy not akin to " plugging a gap" would have been readily accepted, missed a trick again big H.

I bought TBM as they had a test on the new CRF250L, though I have to admint I figure Honda wrote the article, or someone who has a very close relationship with them!!!

It looks nice though, not seen where the plug is located??? I know its heavy, but the new WR250R seems to be the same kinda bike with long service intervals and fairly heavy at approx 139 Kg?

MCN said the quality was way better than the Kawasaki 250, I reckon if you changed the exhaust and took some parts off it might be a nice trail bike! defo not enduro but thats what I am after?
as Mike says they really did miss the boat here, they could have had a class leader! light and fast come on honda! I think the best way to think about it is its better than the CRF230 it seems to be replacing?

From what i've read on it the CRF250L is ment to be a commuter/trail bike with soft power which sounds great for a novice trail rider rather than an experienced trail rider/ endruo rider .
seem's ok for what it is & it's made in thailand not japan .

Is that not what the CRM does? soft power and soft suspension?

CRF has ~10 less bhp and shorter (probably better) suspension.

that's what i was thinking but hopefully slightly lower with an electric start & 4t reliability for the miss's , think i'll stick with my CRM aslong as i can get some funds together to get it back on the road

I don't think you can really compare the CRM to the CRF
and can you really compare a 2T to a 4T ?
the engine reacts completely different
I drove one here in Thailand and it is waaaay heavier CRM 127kg CRF 143kg
the engine have waaay less power CRF 23hp CRM 32hp
and It's shorter (might be a good thing for a shorter driver)

honda have done a cheap bike and didn't really put much research in it. they took the CBR250 engine took the fuel injection out and put it in a pretty frame with pretty plastics. didn't even bother to change the gear box.

But it's cheap and pretty so it will sell.
