Decision - Claim on Insurance or repair MK3

I recently had my MK3 stolen and returned to me today. It was found dumped in a hedge later on the same day it was stolen from my garage . They broke the steering lock and ignition switch and cut the wiring so they could start it.

I'm wondering how easy and expensive it will be to replace the top yoke and ignition switch (plus Key). I can off course still use it in its current condition but would like to return it to its pre-stolen condition.

I have until next Wednesday to decide whether to go through with the insurance claim. I suspect it would be too difficult for them to fix so presume they would pay up.

Decisions.. any views/advice/comments welcomed.

Keep thinking the performance of my MK3 must have been so bad they dumped at first opportunity!!

Not worth the hassle, get an AR.. :D

15 Minutes to change top yoke and lock, plus another 10 minutes to repair the wiring, a couple of hours to repair the garage door.

Yes I think you got the ratio of times correct :-)) I'm just wondering how easy it will be to get the parts...

If I had one of your ARs I'd have to keep it in my dining room too valuable for the garage :-)

Top yoke from a Mk2 or AR would fit.

Repair it yourself, don't claim on insurance, you will have it (the claim) hanging around your neck for 5 years....every time you go for insurance you will have to declare it.

Parts will come up on here or ebay weekly.

Yoke will cost about £10, switch £10, cheap as chips (or probably a curry).

OK I'm convinced that I should hang on to the old girl :-)

I've tried PMing a couple of people (Deano123 and kingoftheswing) to see whether they have the parts but for some reason the PMs are stuck in the Out Box. I'm using Chrome as a browser. Any suggestions?

Thanks
