the problems with Leisure Trail

I wanted to buy a new clutch cable and gear selector seal as well as a drive shaft seal from Leisure trail after about 3 emails and a price of over a $100 Australian they would not accept my credit card because its an Australian one and I was ordering from my house here in Thailand and would not post the stuff here only to my billing address in oz. But they would take a bank transfer and that's just a pain in the ass.
So I got the parts numbers got the seals from the States for $18 with shipping and found a guy over in Chiang Rai that works on dirt bikes and he makes his own clutch cables dam good job he dos as well got one of him for $7.50 no crap!!!! so the total price I paid for the parts I needed was $25.50 I can only work out that Leisure Trail is a bloody rip off !! Thing is sooner or later I will have to get stuff off them not that I want to.
If it's only seals and other small things you need for you bike its best to do some home work and shop around rather than be ripped off by Leisure Trail.

I've always had good service and advice from Leisuretrail.
They may not always be the cheapest but they are not the dearest either and usually about right.
There advice usually means that I spend less with them than I had been expecting
Many companies have a policy of only sending goods to the billing address of the credit card as a safeguard against fraud that is just the way it is.
You should be able to source seals and bearings locally in Thailand as most are standard sizes. If you use the parts books you should also be able to order most parts from a Honda locally as well.
Glad you have got your bike going again.

^^^^^^^^ what Eddie said, I've had nothing but exceptional service from LT including speaking to one of their mechanics on his own mobile on a sunday morning whilst he was at home.

Leisure trail have taken thousand from me in parts sales, and saved me hundreds in advice given. Its a relief when they have items "in stock" for next day delivery, then price is not the issue. If it was not for them many many CRMs would have been scrapped due to lack of spares in UK.

If Leisure Trail "made" their own clutch cables they would be $7.50 as well with no crap.

If they sold the pattern seals they would also be cheaper.

But if you want genuine Honda parts pop down to your local Honda shop and they will rip you off for genuine Honda Parts in Thailand.

Most of your posts seem to be about being ripped off, parts too expensive, alternative blah blah, blah.

Why not just get a pushbike and stop moaning.

LT are pricey compared to ebay but that is because they are quoting for genuine Honda parts.
Like others said pattern parts are available elsewhere if thats what you want.

Look I am no spring Chicken I am 55 years old ridden motoX and enduro bikes all my life but I have to say the prices LT are charging with shipping is over the top of any company I have delt with in the past and yes it's nice to know they have the parts to keep the old CRMs going .
I know the UK is not a cheap place to live I have spent 4 years living in York Shire. I am just like anyone I don't like paying more than I have to.

This topic does crop up quite regularly on the forum, though it doesn't generally degenerate into a slanging match.
You can understand any merchant declining a sale given the parameters you outlined, would you ship an item of yours through eBay given a similar scenario? No probably not. If you were fortunate to have been served under such circumstances once, well you were lucky, but it is the merchants prerogative to decline a sale.
I think it's a given that by and large L.T. prices are not on a comparison with an online store, nor a third world market stall. I can get a bag of sugar at my local corner shop, but at his price, which is clearly stated. If I want a more competitive price I have to go to the local superstore, where it's quite often run as a loss leader.You have to use some discretion with purchases. Me, I'm also a +1 for the L.T. outfit, sometimes spending an extra couple of £s is infinity less painful than trawling the web looking for deals, then the wrong crap turns up, quite often it's of dubious quality, and the postage rates are punitive, then you've got to send it back and argue the case, or build up a stock of, useless, nearly fitting bits.
It'll be the same for any specialist parts supplier, in whatever sphere, slow moving parts, shelf space cost money, bottom line.

Only 55 years old, younger than me and many more on this forum.

You will not get this post to degenerate into a slanging match even if it is great fun, but this is generally a good humoured forum, full of help and assistance from everybody, and in my case supplying parts to numerous countries and sometimes for no charge at all (is that not true fishy?

CR 500 tell us more, is it road registered, I had a KX500 on the road for a year.

Just for info.
I got a quote for clocks for my AR from both Leisure Trail and my local Honda Dealer (Chichester Honda) and both prices were within a few quid of eachother so I dont think they charge anymore than would be normal for a main dealer.
Difference is Chichester Honda didnt know what a CRM was (fitting clocks quote for insurance reasons) whereas Leisure Trail know everything.
I have never purchased anything off of either dealer BTW coz I am a cheapskate and just get pattern parts.

We all know LT's prices are on the high side.

But its the service, availability and quality of parts you're paying for. Always worth the extra premium to me.

guys I need to post now.
when I got my crm mk2 it was in a sorry state
I didn't need it to look nice just to run and handle like it should as I wanted it for mud plugging.

I live about 20mins away from leisure trail and found out the hard way £££££££
buy my parts from them the same day parts that fit my bike friendly advice save me time and money in the long run.

on line I have wasted time and money on parts that do not fit and need to send back at my cost, chain and sprockets that last four weeks ( ad said stronger than original parts).
plus I have found they sell some parts less than you get on flea bay, leavers, oil, air filter, plugs and the like.
some times I just go in to ask them stuff and they don't seem to mind.
if it wasn't for L.T. my bike would for sure be sold off for part or in the skip at work and not pulling me up monsal head in the peak district.
best fun I have had on a motorcycle.
