Central Wheels -unbelievable!

Post by 2stroke » 27 Jan 2015, 11:54

Ordered my spokes over 2 weeks ago. Guy said ok, we'll send them. Didn't say how long it takes or when, we'll call you or email before. Haven't heard anything. Money weren't taken from the card. I was concerned so called them on Friday. After some checking woman said they were busy and she will send them and I will get it on Tuesday. Come Tuesday- nothing. Checked balanced -wasn't charged. Called them and woman said we haven't got nipples in that size. I asked when they were expecting to get the stock in. She said she doesn't know. I find it pathetic.

Any other decent suppliers?

I must've got lucky with them. Ordered some rims and spokes and was told the spokes would have to be made as a special order. Strangely enough they turned up next day via a courier; so they must've found a set kicking around.

The chap who built my wheels deals with them a lot and says they are a nightmare in general.

As to other suppliers, I believe hagon will make up spokes to order...

Sounds bad, BUT, it could have been a lot worse, at least they didn't take your money then fail to deliver.

No, but they took mine a couple of years ago.

I ordered 2 complete new wheels and hubs, they lost the order, denied I had any order, then found the order, then forgot the order, had to reorder, never got anything, had a refund.

I had Racespec do 2 sets of wheels for me (Tewkesbury) in the end.

Thanks guys...
Helisupp, that made me laugh. Thats about sums it up.
She rung me a bit later and offered galvanized brass nipples instead. £5 extra. I agreed so lets see.
Later I will need to order 32h 17x4.25 rim but will try to find someone else.
I'll check the Racespec too

2stroke,

Galvanised brass nipples, never heard of such a thing, brass and zinc do not like each other.

Get to know proper terminology. :) In first instance nipples were zinc plated steel (cheaper, dull color) and I was offered nickel plated brass (shiny) instead. After sending wrong size spokes and not admiting their fault only after speaking with director/owner Richard they sent right ones. And Richard said he needs to educate boys in a workshop... :o Wheels are built now, but Central Wheels not recomended
