Exhaust Packing How Much

Post by Dower » 01 May 2015, 20:31

Hi fellas. I've been reading a bit about exhaust packing and how it gets full of gunk so I've decided to replace mine. I imagine someone has already done this so ... How many packs of this will I need do you think? http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/291438641488?nav=SEARCH. My bike has a Dep exhaust. Thanks

 Wow, that stuffs dear, and you'lle probably need a coupe of packs. Don't pack it to tight, just nicely firm.
You could go for this as it will withstand a burning out with a propane gun.

But it's your decision.

I'm not sure about the wire wool. I'm sure it would be fine, but I've always used the packing similar to the first link. You could get a non branded packing cheaper than the FMF packing.

It might be worth pulling the exhaust can apart before you order the wading. Some cans, can only reassemble with wadding sheets, rather than the loose stuff.

I wouldn't use wire wool. It breaks down quicker and is a nightmare to clear out in my experience. Exhaust matting is cheaper and easier than the strands that you have listed. Wrap it round the perforated pipe and compress it as you slide it into the silencer outer.
