Woodruff key magneto side!!
hello again
bet you getting fed up if seeing my posts by now! :)
any 1 care to send me a picture of a woodruff key on the magneto side please!!
what is it soposed to look like?
is it soposed to be straight on the top??
and when the fly wheel is aligned should there be any play?? ( left and right )
(theres no play when the locking nut is tightend up, but you can move it a couple of degree's ether way when its located on the woodruff key)
i have just got my bike back from the bike shop with a spark and running and now it runs like a bag of poo! sounded like the bottom end was going :s
my Woodruff key looks to be very damaged and has allowed the timing to change depending on where you tighten up the flywheel ! ( i think ) ( i hope, i cant afford an engine rebuild!)
many thanks
josh

Re: Woodruff key magneto side!!
Woodruff key is standard across Mk1/2/3 (not sure about AR) Pno. - 13331-360-000
Curved on the bottom straight on the top. There could be some wear in the female joint on the flywheel
.
Costs ~ £2.50 in UK

Re: Woodruff key magneto side!!
my mk2 started running rough didnt respond as quick when reved & i found the groove on the flywheel & the woodruff key both badly worn i fitted a new flywheel & key & problem solved think the previous owner might not have tightened the nut to correct torque hope this helps

Re: Woodruff key magneto side!!
The number is definately correct. Maybe the slot was mashed and previous owner fitted larger key
