Chain guide thingy

Post by xander77 » 14 Mar 2010, 19:22

As described in the technical subject!! ha ha. I don`t have a bottom runner on the rear chain guide that sits near the rear sprocket.
I assume the lad before me took it off cause he had a 48 tooth rear sprocket on.
Anyhow I am going to fit a 45 tooth rear with a 14 or maybe 13 tooth front, will I need to drop the guide any for that? and do LT sell the bottom rubber or whatever it is? or has anyone on here got one to sell?
Thanks
Jack

my mk1 has the swinging arm protector and roller you describe on the bike. it was bought with 13t front and 46t rear. now the rear is also up a bit higher than usual.
now when on the bike and running it there is no issue.however the roller, protector chain interaction at a pushing pace is tougher than normal setup.
hope that helps.....d

I assume you mean the rubber slider that fits in the plastic cage/guide. LT should sell them.
It is also possible to fit a dropper for larger rear sprockets
see this search
search.php?keywords=chain+dropper&terms ... mit=Search

I run 13 - 49 with a chain dropper. I find this ideal for the trails I ride.
60mph cruising any faster and my knobblies will start to break off.
Bike will probably hit 80+ with this gearing.

I think that 13 - 45 has been put forward as a good compromise between road and trail gearing and that there is no need for the dropper.

Hi Eddie,
I checked LT`s web site after posting the question!! I know wrong way round!!! duh! and they do list them so I will order one tomorow with the new swinging arm bearing/bush set. I will try the 14/45 and drop to 13 if I think it needs it.
You got any north wales ride outs planned soon? my mate just got his DR350 and we are hoping for some pointers round that area?
Thanks
Jack
