CRM doesn't like water

Post by Kefa39 » 07 Jan 2011, 19:39

Hi,
My MK2.2 CRM doesnt seem to like getting wet.Even going through a deep puddle starts the bike spluttering. It feels more like the fuel system than the electrics as the revs hunt up and down after going through water.
I've checked the intake hoses for splits and they seem ok and I am going to change the gaskets and O rings on the carb.
Are there any other things to check on the crm or do any of the small pipes off the carb need repositioning?
Thanks

The sidestand switch is aqua phobic.

You can disable it by by-passing its connector block, instructions on the site somewhere...

Yes, the breather hoses [2] benefit from being places as high as possible, I have mine just below the headstock.
The over flow pipe from the carb bowl, must stay where it is, but you can fit squeeze vent on the pipe, similar to the the larger one on the bottom of the air box.

Thanks for the replies.
I'll carry out both these mods before going near water again!
