Taaa Daaa!! She's fixed- (almost!)

Post by njhardy » 01 Feb 2012, 06:11

Well, after what seems like weeks (and it has been) after being chewed out by knackered et all, I have managed to strip her down, rebore her, new piston +1, rings, gudgeon, little end bearing, crank, big end bearings, seals, water pump bearings.
Nervous when I go her back together and did a bit of a respray to make her look even more lovely. My god was the compression high when she started up first- thought the bore was too tight!! But she has run-in beautifully over the last 100km and wow is she fast (...but I'm running her in of course!) Unfortunately yesterday I had a pissing oil leak out of the engine clutch lever arm (of all places), so she is back to pieces again.
I have to congratulate myself (and those designers at Honda) for such a lovely piece of engineering. 100 cups of tea later....I'm no whizz, but I'm 1000 times more knowledgable now!!
Nick
How do I put a bloody picture of my bike onto here- its really annoying me!?!!

Yup- as I thought a bit too much oil on the gearbox had forced its way out of the clutch linkage seal- no problem there. All oil changed and seal fixed. Put new disks and pads on her too and she stops properly now. 250km on the clock since the new piston. Wow- have I done everything??? Shall I try putting a turbo on next?? ...
