new to the crm
hi guys new to the forum and the crm , i live in tasmania , australia just bought the bike and it isnt going well , as soon as you give it a hand full it misses and pops and carrys on , unrideable, it has been at a mates bike shop for a month and all the electrics had been sent in for a check up and all they could find out what was wrong was a bad ignition coil so it was replaced, but no difference in the running of bike, it is a 1999 crm 250 ar, the oil injection has been removed so i mix fuel myself 32;1 any help be much appreciated if you could shed a bit of light on this , thanks

32:1 sounds a bit strong what oil are you running ?
semi synthetic = 40 : 1
fully synthetic = 50: 1
semi synthetic = 40 : 1
fully synthetic = 50: 1
Im thinking about a bike with more valves than a powervalve

Also you wil need to re-jet if running pre-mix or you run the risk of running lean.

Yes, unfortunately the AR has the weakest ECU in terms of reliability. It is usually the power valve side that goes first thought, often caused by a lack of maintenance of the mechanical state of the powervalve and cables. Simplest way to check it's operating is take the small cover off (4 6mm bolts LHS of engine) start the bike and check for full operation. Also check the alignment (do a search... There's pages on it). If worst case scenario it is your ECU at fault a member on here in Greece (twostrokeracelab) can repair the.
Good luck.

Also I'm assuming you've tried a new spark plug? You probably will have gummed it up running that much oil.

Re: new to the crm
Sounds like the ECU power-valve problem to me, but as said give the carburation side of things a good going over as well. Mine is the same sometimes, when the ECU starts to play up.

Re: new to the crm
Good point on the exhaust, what exhaust system are you running?
Also, assuming you have blanked off the oil feed inlet (inlet boot rubber) properly? Otherise it will also cause the bike to run lean.
I think start with the powervalve, then look at the cleanliness and state of the carb and exhaust as suggested, and jetting. You will find jetting advice on here, also try and find the 300odd page user manual for the AR and download it, it really is brilliant!!
