No Spark

Post by Sharkmph » 07 Mar 2013, 00:04

Hi,

I need some more help I got my Carb today and I now have good fuel but since its been sitting for 5 months I have now lost spark. Is there a way to disconnect all the key switch and shut off switch for testing? I don't have a wiring diagram or anything I'm just going from experience. The plug is new and I have checked the spark with a 1/4 inch spark tester and NOTHING. It is in neutral key is on and switch to run when i kick it i get a green neutral light and a yellow side stand light the headlight also works when kicked but no spark?

Its a sad day I wanted to ride so bad.

Thanks Mark

It's going to be a process of elimination. You could start behind the headlight checking all wires , plugs etc... bridge over the ignition switch and kill switch using a piece of wire or equivalent.

+1

could be kill switch.. prolly not ignition since neutral light comes on..

those connectors often get screwy behind that headlight,,, especially if u drop the bike and hit the light mounting - or at least on my crappy aftermarket one...

What I did when wiring my bike was use 2 or 3 pin waterproof plugs for the lights and kill and ignition switches. I also made (using the oppposite plugs) bypasses to carry in my spares. That way you can easily and quickly bypass the ignition or kill switch when out if you damaged one and lost a spark or lost key.

It's best to bypass this switch as it gives rise to so much grief.Have you checked it?

You guys are the best thanks for all the help I just came back from a great ride damn that thing is FUNNNNNNNN Its was the kill switch it was making me crazy I did an ohms test and it show good about every 6th time i turned it on and off and when the dike is running and you tap the kill switch with a wrench the dire turns off. So now back to ebay to find a switch. Its damn hard to find parts on this side of the pond for these bike but i sure do love it.

How do you bypass the switch? from the wiring diagram I was looking at it looks like there is a diode in it.

dont think theres a diode in there.... so I guess u could twist the wires?

imagine another 'normal' bike kill switch might work?
