Weeping headgasket

my headgasket has started to weep a little the bike runs and starts fine. howeve ive bought a new gasket to sort it.
does anybody know if i will be able to do this whilst the engine is in the frame?
also i read a rebuild thread somwhere, saying to put instant gasket on both surfaces as well as the honda gasket, i would have thought this wasnt needed am i wrong?
And is there anything thats is worth chcking whilst ive got the head off?

You shouldn't encounter any problems doing it in situ, drain of the fluids obviously.
Undo the head fixings and use the engines compression to pop the head off by kicking the engine over.
Gasket cleaning might be tedious, but don't be tempted to use anything harder than the cylinder material.
Some gentle cleaning of the piston crown can be done, and checking float and clearance of the piston to barrel would be good.
If have access to a sheet of glass, lay a sheet of fine grit emery on it and in a figure of eight rotation pattern check the head for trueness.
Instant gasket can cause problems if it inadvertently finds it's way into water passages, and shouldn't be needed in any case.
