Electric Start??
Has anyone ever considered grafting an electric start kit on a CRM, does anyone think it's possible??

Re: Electric Start??
There was a company that retro fitted some ugly contraption on alternator side of the bike. It was a one size fits all jobby. The details escape me at the moment. Additional room for a battery would have to be found.

Re: Electric Start??
I know you'd need battery room. My mate's fitting one to his Gas Gas, think you change the flywheel for one with gear teeth and it starts it that way.
I don't mind kicking in normal use, but there have been several occasions where I've been off the bike and it's not been easy to get back on, or stalled half way up a massive hill and you're using both feet on the floor or maybe rear brake where electric start would be a god-send.

Re: Electric Start??
Tempting, but...... wouldn't say Honda on it, neither would it have autolube!! Also the Gas-Gas's seem to have uncomfortable vibrations which I don't like (not sure if the have a balancer shaft) and dare I say the bikes or engines wouldn't last as long as a CRM.

Haha you know what, I wrote something about being orange, then got distracted and thought you had put 'EC' which is Gas-Gas, didn't bother to re-read your post, and deleted my orange comment and then wrote the above!! Doh!!

I too am interested in learning what (if any) kits are out there for an electric start for the same reasons mentioned by Active Radical.
Mike, the link you had is broken. Was that something useful for electric start kits for a CRM?
For all,
Are there kits available for electric start?

Re: Electric Start??
Try looking at some of the Zongshen 250cc electric starter parts.
I would also recommend a LiFePo4 battery, small and powerful.

Re: Electric Start??
I recall there was a kit for XR400's, it was expensive though, but it worked quite well. I would have thought it could be adapted for the CRM. A quick Google shows a lot of discussion, but no obvious supplier.

Re: Electric Start??
I’m in the middle of fitting one using the starter system and alternator side engine cover from a cagiva mito. Gonna be tight but should work
