MK 2 rear caliper wobble...
MK 2 rear caliper wobble...
Just replaced the pads on my recently acquired MK.2. Should i be able to rock the caliper slightly when everything is nipped up tight? (I'm new to off road bikes )
I noticed too that the old pads had worn in a kind of 'diagonal' way - ie both are worn more at one end than the other (opposite ends worn so that when you put them together you are left with a 'square' with a diagonal line where the pads meet) it's as tho' the caliper is moving into a slightly diagonal position when the brake is used. Can anyone tell me if this is normal or should I suspect a worn caliper slide pin?
Any pointers very gratefully received

The rear caliper is a \"floater\".....and should slide on the pins easily, if the pads are worn unevenly, then the pins/bushes need cleaning and some good quality high temp/water proof grease, behind the rubber seals.
CRM's great fun....even thinking of selling the Ducati, as it hardly ever gets used !!.

Bit drastic isnt it chris ? granted my 916 hasnt been used much in the last 2 months mainly down to the rectifier chucking its hand in 100 miles from le harve, but its an old M reg bike, worth bugger all and makes a great winter hack as its easy to clean and easy to make look good again for summer - simply fire around £400 worth of new fastners and bolts at it each year
