MK 1 Front Wheel Question

Post by flying scotsman » 15 Feb 2006, 22:10

Took the front wheel off my MK 1 today and as I pulled the spindle out, a flat washer(not the tang washer that drives the speedo) fell onto the floor from the speedo drive side. Should this washer go between the outside of the speedo drive and the spindle or should it go in between the inside of the speedo drive and the wheel bearing. I had a look at wemotos parts drawing for the front wheel and it does not appear to show a washer, but then again its not the clearest of drawings to look at.
Any help much appreciated.

Cheers

Steve

Just fitted new tyres to mine and there is no washer on the speedo side but there again mine is mark 2. Whats the wemotos drawing you looked at, can you link to it

Hi,

I believe this is the illustration you looked at:

I have a mark 1 also and dont remember seeing a washer on the speedo side, will have a look tomorrow and post back if you have no joy.

I also have a Mk1, mine does not have a washer either, I know the speedo drive is quite fragile, maybe the last owner tried fixing the speedo drive & the washer was needed as a spacer?
