Thanks guys, I'm gonna tape the lights up to get through the mot. Just have a spongey front brake problem to sort now, tried bleeding, and the lever still touchs the handlebar when squeezed. The brake does work and stop the bike but its classed as a fail on the mot.
Not sure what else to do with the brake tbh.
ps. I have supermoto wheels ( nsr 125 ) on it by the way, so they aren't standard.

I had a search and someone said to squirt some fluid up the bleed nipple until it goes into the resevior, which I might try if I can get a syringe. I take it you need to do this with the nipple undone a bit though?!
Also the brake does seem like its bleeding alright, there is a nice little stream coming out, it just still seems spongey

yes ....to slackening the nipple a little bit.
sometimes on difficult to bleed brakes......
when you are doing the slacken/ pump/tighten bit. i always have the loose end of the tubing i use on the bleed nipple sitting in say an inch of brake fluid .otherwise when pumping out ,sometimes a little air is drawn back in at the stop pumpimg/tighten stage .
sitting it in fluid only drags fluid back.
(i usually use an old mug/coffee jar sitting on a brick or similar...saves using an excessively long tubing btw.

Right I've bleed the brake again with a pipe as said, and I also tried the syringe jobbie. And I've bought some new pads for it and its still the same. I'm a bit baffled what else to do tbh.

IMO, that looks like a mk2 calliper.
My favoured technique, when bleeding a , co-operating system, is, pull lever, release bleed screw, as pressure drops off, tighten bleed screw, release lever, and repeat, constantly, checking level in master cylinder.
I prefer a long length[of pipe], so as you easily see any bubbles that have been purged from the system.
Just a check, you do have the correct lever on there?, some of those really cheap pattern levers don't have the correct contact point to the plunger on the master cylinder.

Regarding the photo - Is that builder's galvanised section being used as a bracket

Not 100% sure what the bracket is as I bought the bike like that.
Thought it may be a mk 2 caliper. Seems pretty similar to how I bleed the brake then.
Maybe something is wrong with the caliper. It might be best for me to get a secondhand front brake assembly

There's all kinds of things wrong about that bracket and the various packing washers and bolts used. What size is the disk
. If it's the standard SM size (can't remember off the top of my head
320mm
) then you really need to get the correct caliper bracket off Talon - TB06 and get the right sized flanged bolts.

yeah its a 320mm disk.
I think I will get the right bracket to be honest. will that talon one fit with the caliper I have? As the bracket on my caliper looks different to others I have seen.
Don't think thats whats making the brake spongey though.
Anyone got anymore ideas with regards to the spongey brake?

alryt mate. jsut wonderin wat your front caliper is off coz atm mines bodged and it just snaps off lol. and coz i have nsr wheels on mine and you do thought it maybe the same let me no asap please

oh right ok. and the other day was ridin along and to avoid hittin a car that pulled out i was heavy ont he brakes n coz i had jsut used a weak bit of metal to bodge it it snapped but i want to do it properly now. where did the man who did ya bike the the bracket from or where could i find one mate.

Bleeding brakes really shouldnt be hard. As previously said, put tube on nipple with other end of tube placed in a jar with fluid in. Undo nipple, squeeze lever (slow at first) an leave it pulled back, tighten nipple. Let lever go. Loosen nipple, pull in lever (get faster as you repeat this process) leave it pulled back, tighten nipple. etc etc. If this doesnt work then service the master cylinder. Thats assumin the brake pistons are lovely an clean an thier seals are in top condition.
If youve got all the air bubbles out then it must be the master cylinder, pistons, seals etc etc
