float level help please

Post by warloks » 25 Jan 2016, 19:13

hi guys im trying to do the float level on my bike but im a little confused about how to do it correctly i turn the carb over the float totally depresses the needle but i have read that you should adjust the float with the carb at a 45 degree angle so the float is not bottoming out only slight pressure on the sprung loaded needle.i did the carbs on my fireblade a while ago and the process was the same set at 45 degrees so which way is correct ? float bottomed out or 45 degrees with slight pressure on the needle
cheers

It's been a long time since I did mine last, but from memory a slight pressure on the needle jet is the correct procedure, then measure of the 16mm :?: :?: {I think}, there's an element of guess work about it. These jets do wear out, so it's also worth having a good look at it to see if it's still fit for purpose.
