HT lead detaches from ignition coil

Post by nicko » 17 Feb 2016, 12:41

I've discovered that on my Mk3 (same coil as AR) the HT lead screws into the ignition coil in the same way as the plug cap screws in. All other coils i've seen have the lead fixed in place. Just wanted to add to the information pool :-)

hopefully when i re-assemble with a new bit of lead i will have sparks

i've managed to take the HT lead out my coil & cut a bit off where the HT lead wire was snapped , theres two layers of plastic insulation the outer has to be stripped as the hole in the coil is smaller than the over all width of the HT lead , not sure how long it will last but it runs and thats ok for now as i didn't want to spend too much on parts to find problems else where .
