Yet another AR valve problem

Post by Yeoboy » 22 Aug 2016, 20:05

Hi guys, new to the forum. Wondering if someone could possibly help me.

I've searched and searched but can't quite find an answer.

I recently sent off my pgm off my AR for repair because I was experiencing intermittent problems with it shutting and not opening again, all signs pointed to the CDI as when I flipped the key off and on again it worked fine for another 5 minutes.

Having fitted my now repaired pgm (it was confirmed faulty) im getting the same issue. Regulator is fine, tested volts at headlight and a solid 13v. All cables free, valve not sticky servo looks ok?

I'm pulling my hair out please help!!

Thanks, Jack.

If turning the ignition off and back on again is curing the problem with the rebuilt PGM then the fault could be still in there.
Who rebuilt it?
How long before the fault returned?
Are you certain the reg/rec is good, that will take down the PGM in heartbeat?

Thanks for the reply mike, I've tested the reg/Rec a few times. Both when the valve was working and when it wasn't both times giving me no more than 14v.

It was the man in Greece that repaired it, I don't suspect he didn't repair it properly but I suspect something has caused it to go again so I've sent it back off to him to retest for me.

I noticed the tension on the cables was a lot (so much so that I feel the motor was having to work too hard) so I chopped down the spring tensioner on the right cable and it became much freeer and smoother when the valve was working. That was the only thing I could find.

I want to illuminate all possibilities before I refit the pgm. Suggestions welcome!

Thanks again

Nick tried to fix mine twice but it was still no good. Sometimes I think they cant be saved or maybe its just too delicate in there.
I run a seperate controller now (http://www.ignitech.cz/en/vyrobky/stps/stps.htm) with no ill effects. If you want to go down that road give me a shout and I can send you the 3D map I use to control the valve.

Wiring fault on the plug/loom?? I had this..... I knew the ECU was good and everything else as it was all pretty new. I tested the wires and they were showing continuity, and then one popped out from the ECU plug on the loom. I managed to repair it (not mega easy) but have had no problems since.

Thanks for the response I'll give them a wiggle later and let you know. I'm waiting to hear back from Nick to tell me if I've busted the pgm again. Fingers crossed all is well as it soon adds up in cost!

Ok I've been informed by Nick my pgm is performing fine. I was convinced it was blown again! Now I'm really stuck. I've been through all connectors from ignition to power valve to Pgm and nothing obvious but cleaned up anyways. It's confusing me how a flick of the key off and back on its fine again!

This'll be the death of me. I have an enduro coming up and want it 100%.

Any help appreciated gents!

Will Stps work with mk3?

Yes and you can tune it to suit too. Full 3D map working off TPS (does the Mk3 have a TPS?) and Revs or you can run off revs alone if you want (or if there is no TPS).

Question for the smart guys, does Mk3 have a TPS?

The answer is that the Mk1,2 and 3 do not have a TPS so for those a simple revs/opening position curve could be used.

Hi all, I have looked through the forum and not found any posts as to whether a PV Servo from CR125 or 250 could be installed on a CRM250AR, mine has about 4 teeth missing off the 1st plastic gear driven off the motor.
I have tried an unhelpful Hobby shop to try to purchase this gear but no luck. PV and cables are all really free so not sure what has caused it as only had the bike for 3 weeks.
Cheers Rick

To my knowledge the PV servos mentioned will not fit the CRM. However the servo off a CRM or NSR 125 are very similar and you could swap the gears.

Otherwise any CRM 250 servo will be compatible.

I may be wrong but in Australia the CRM250 is like rocking horse poo and we never had the CRM125 but possibly limited numbers of NSR125's anyhow I may have a lead on a local plastic gear supplier.
