Possible missing fork internal parts?

Post by Lostpom » 19 Feb 2017, 13:44

Hi there
I bought a CRM250 ar (97) which came with an exploded diagram of the forks, when I disassembled them for a full rebuild there seems to be a part missing (both forks), it's listed on the diagram as 'Spacer guide seal ring' which is shown below the 'spacer guid' on the end of the 'spring spacer'. The three parts I've mentioned are listed as one and shown as one on the diagrams the bike shop orders it's parts from and they say it's no longer available.
As my only option seems to be to buy a secondhand pair of forks and hope the missing part comes with them I thought I'd ask on here first to see if anyone can confirm I have a missing part or knows where I could get one, also one of the afore mentioned 'Spacer guides' has had a whack, it seems to still be functional but if possible I'd like to replace it too.
Sorry, I don't know how to post a picture of my diagram on here, it says it must exist on the web already but this is what the bike shop has https://goo.gl/images/ba1Z4X 'the three parts shown as one are No6'.
Thanks for any help
Robin.

You have a CRM so therefore need to expect all but a few bikes shops to be clueless about them. Every year my MOT has a new description (CRF250 last year). The only shop worth talking too IMO are Leisure Trail in Notts. Tom knows these bikes inside out and they were the original importers. They still stock many parts so you might get lucky. You could replace the forks with CR125 ones as per the FAQ and improve the performance while you are at it.
