Leaking coolant

My 1991 is leaking coolant from the reservoir overflow pipe.
As soon as it gets quite hot it pi**es out. Is this a problem with water pump?
If i take radiator cap off when motor is running the coolant is pretty static.
After i have run it for a bit (stationary) with a few decent revs, the amount lost from the overflow is enough to take the level below the top of the radiator core when cap is removed.
I realise it is probably something basic but then so is my knowledge of 2 strokers!
