Hello All,

This message relates my previous of LACK OF POWER on my mk 2 CRM, cheers for the replys.

I have cleaned out the carb, it was a bit blocked up but still the bike lacks power. Next turned to the power valve. On start up the alignment marks on the arm are correct but when I rev the engine the arm stays still, no movement at all.

Next took the plastic cap off of the module that covers the wheel with the cables that controls the power valve and checked the cables,again no probs here. With the bike running I then manually turned the wheel on the module and set the valve to open, took the bike out and have now obviously lost the low down torque, but the power is back! But the power valve still won't move by itself.

When I turn the bike off and then re-start it, the valve moves by itself and returns back to the correct alignment, but thats it, it dosn't move again and open up and the bike is now obviously back to having low down torque but no ommph.

The bike ticks over fine and runs good, it revs as normal when I blip the throttle, starts on three everytime, all electrics are working, everything else appears to be ok.

Could this a problem with my CDI unit or part of it, or the power valve module itself, electrical connections or something else, any help or information would be greatly apprecaited as this problem has now messed up my weekend big time!!!

James, I have had something like this happen, only in my case the valve did not move at all. I replaced the servo as it was very stiff and appeared to be the cause, but to no avail. spoke to leasure trail as I thought it might be the CDI and they said they had a pile of CDI`s with `power valve not working` on them, but it was best to also change the reg/rec unit as this if it was knackered would take out a new CDI. cost of servo £180, CDI £375, and reg/rec apx £175. I bought the servo from leasure trail, and the rest from david silver spares with a 25% discount if i waited 3-4 weeks (turned out to be 5/6).
But as i say mine did not work at all. I would take the cables off the powervalve and check it moves freely 1st ,as it can just gum up.
hope its non of the above as i was well pissed off with this lot.
up side of this was getting back on it after two months with no powervave and realising just how quick they are when working properly.

Cheers for the reply Phil,

The valve moves very freely, doesn't appear gummed up at all. Is there any way of determining exactly what has either blown or packed up, sort of auto electrition stuff??

I hope its not as bad as everything youve had to replace, no wonder you were a bit pissed!!

CRMinit,

The only way to check whether the valve has gummed up is to strip the top end of the engine and take a look. The valve is something that im afraid I know very little about and you are right, to check any of the electrical components you will need some auto electrician experience or knowledge.

Cheers Bargos,

I took the front pipe off which gives you access to the valve, no probs found. After speaking to a few electrics specialists it would appear the CDI is playing up. But not sure what has caused it, any light to shed???

Hey CRM,

Im sorry but I thats about as far as my CDI knowledge extends - I know some of the others have had the same problem, there may even be a post elsewhere on these boards.
