crm250 problems
hi i decided to try and fix my crm250 i cleaned the kill switch and then bang she fires staright up but then 2 mins later bogged down and died i took it off cleaned again and cleaned plug and it started but then done same thing is it the kill switch or do i need a new plug thanks

no thats why i cleaned the kill switch so then it fires then died 2 mins later
i tryed anew plug but not the right one i just tested one from halfords but i think its for a car but i still thought it would firen it up?

hi i have put in the brand new plkug and there is no spark at all i either got my dumb mate to hold it and put his little finger in the ht metalJonorow wrote:the BR8EG should be ok I used an old one in my crm for a bit without any prob. dont use the ES plugs as the electrode is too big and will cause you more problems. from the way you said the bike ran at first, i doubt it is electrical. i think the reason it started the second time was because you cleaned the plug.that leads me to think its a fueling problem.somtimes holding a plug to check for a spark is not accurate. if its not earthed or your friend backs of coz hes affraid of getting fried.lol. if you wanna check for a spark ,make sure you clean of any corrosion where your holding the plug.also check ht lead.as this is more likely to be the problem.if your still not getting a spark let us know and we can take it from there. hope this helps.

Its a process of elimination - you need to be satisfied that you are getting a good clean spark first and take it from there.
To know for sure it is best to remove the plug, the cap and then cut the last 10mm or so off the HT lead (as long as there is plety left so it isnt left short). Then get your mate to hold the HT lead as close as possible to the cylinder head with a pair of insulated pliers whilst you kick it over.
If there isnt a spare then you will need to start looking at the ignition circuit - the best way is to clean every electrical connection and if necessary, bypass the kill switch as these can cause problems. Also look for frayed wiring, short circuits, iffy looking connections - you will know one when you see it! Also clean the earths - from memory there are a couple under the tank.
Try all that lot if there is still no spark from the end of the HT lead then you could be looking at a failed component in the ignition circuit - it can happen but its rare.
