clutch help
Well myclutch has finally worn out and i have read some previous posts about holding the basket and it seems there is a lot get broke.Has anyone done this job recently and found an easy way.im just been careful as i dont need to buy a basket aswell. How about putting it in 1st and holding back brake on,also is the thread anti clockwise to slacken or opposite? any help appreciated as i dont need to spend more money.
Hi,
Dont take the risk! A clutch basket is expensive to replace when all you need is two strips of metal plate with two holes in each to hold the basket.
from what I can recall it cost me about 60 quid for the basket.
I picked up some pre-drilled steel plate from somewhere that worked a treat.
Simple bolt the end of each plate to one of the lugs on the basket and then the other end of each plate together.
You could buy the steel plate from somewhere like B&Q and just drill the holes out with a domestic drill - easy and really satisfying to make your own tool.

Mikey what part has worn out?
If you have to remove the basket it's very difficult the first time(I used \"C\" clamp grips on mine),after the first removal it's usually easier.
Done mine last week.
