When setting the AR valve according to the manual, there are two marks one on the alignment plate and one on the cable plate and these should line up. if not you use the cable adjuster to get them to line up, but mine won't, does this mean that the cables are just worn or are there thoer reasons that might cause the problem.

Check that the outer cables are connected together properly, under the tank, where the main throttle cable connects to the carb, and oil pump cables.

not sure about when disconnected but re connect the cables warm the bike up then when its warm using the adjuster line the two marks up when on tick over when you rev the bike you should see the rocker turn anti clockwise opening the valve then the two marks should line up again as it settles
