more problems (possibly carb related)

Post by rene » 16 Aug 2007, 22:01

Hi, my bike hasn’t started for the last week or so I decided to pull my finger out and clean the carb (first time for everything!). Everything was going well until I got to taking out the idle jet! I noticed that that it wasn’t screwed all the way in (was about a turn away from fully screwed in) so I cleaned the carb and put it back together the same as I took it apart!

So I kick the bike over and it roars in to life second time! Problem is it wont stop roaring...it’s like having it fully open all the time!

So what do you guys think it could be? I tried adjusting the idle (i thought it was the big screw with the spring on it) but didn’t seem to do anything! I "think" when I close the accelerator its letting off altogether but I can’t seem to adjust the cables either...

So any help or suggestions you guys can give me would be brill!

Cheers,
Rene

Seems to me like the cables have been put back on incorrectly.
I doubt the tickover screw would make it rev so High its anti clock wise turns to settle it anyway. But I would check the throttle cables to carb first
if there are two of them make sure you attatched them the right way round
and not swapped them.

most important thing is I highly doubt anything is broke so dont worry..
it will be a 2 min fix. Try take the cables of again and see if the wheel
pully spins back then you will know. what model CRM is it?

Just noticed on pic it looks like an AR so its not throttle needle.

I'm gonna go for the two cables that attach to the pully wheel need swapping
over. Don't worry about adjusting the cables it will be fine if they are right way round.

If its a bit difficult to kick over it might be a bit flooded.

other things to check if you have no success with the cables are
check for air leaks and that the carb is sealed propperly
and take the float bowl off to check that the floats are not stuck
