Little end bearing

How do you check for wear in the little end bearing?
Up and down it seems of but allows a fair bit of play when twisting/side to side

Here is a pic of the piston that I have pulled out :(
Shame really as there seemed to be very little wear in the bore.
There's a big score now.

Crank/Big End seems OK. Is there a special way of checking it?
Sorry for all the questions but working on 2 strokes is new to me.
Thanks
Eddie

You should replace the piston, little end, gudgeon pin and circlips all together. The money you save is not worth the risk.

There should be a little play on the conrod side to side but there should be none in the vertical plane. Likewise there should be no play from either side of the crank up and down.

Damage looks like a ring breaking or getting caught? Piston crown looks like you have been running a bit lean.

The damage is right in line with the exhaust port /power valve.
Both rings are pined to the piston by the damage.
Does £65 for a piston seem right?

Yeah i'd agree with Knackered, and that would cause the piston to overheat near to the exhaust port. The same problem on a four stroke usualy melts the exhaust valve/valve's.

I upped the pilot jet to a 50 as generally recommended.
Any recomendations on the main jet.
It has a Pro Circuit expansion chamber and I had the bike at full throttle.
Like I said in the other post it is possible the carb might not have been fitted fully back in the manifold (I honestly don't know) It's just that when I had the carb off and on a few times to clean the jets whilst trying to start it and one I found I had not fully pushed it into the engine manifold.
Thanks for all the help.

Main Jet is a 150.
Just going to send the barrel off to Stan Stephens for a rebore. They are supplying the piston which I assume comes with rings and pin?
Will get little end, gaskets etc from LT who have now been added to my friends and family no's
