Reed stop

I read another post a while back from a fella saying that his
reeds dident have a reed stop plate and it was agreed that this wasent
unusual for two stage reeds. So, I removed the stopper from my active reeds
and am now having second thoughts since my barrel is at the cleaners
and am soon to have a new top end I wouldent want them snapping on me.

Usually the reeds I've seen without stops tend to have a thin metal re-enforcing plate at the screw holes and since there isent one
on the active reeds - Ive just screwed right into the existing
holes I'm paranoid that they are gonna tear off? Need I be worried?

Scrubs, are you are having the cylinder rebored?
If so make sure that you check that the piston will clear the power valve.
I've just been refitting the cylinder on mine after a 1.5mm rebore. Luckily I checked that the piston would miss the valve.
Did a search on here and found that the usual practice is to file the valve
until there is clearance. Jobs now done and the engine is back in the frame.
I'm going on a First Biker on the Scene First Aid course tomorrow but just might get time to finish the job at night. :D
Good Luck

Cheers mate, Yes, I sent it to Stan Stephens for it's first Rebore
and tune, He is also supplying the piston kit so am assuming he
would check it first, do you think? maybe I should ring him to
check.

Did you send the valve with the barrel? I think they asked for it to be included when I enquired about a tune.
I decided not to go for the tune as to be honest all I want now is the ******g thing to go and I really don't care how fast. :D
Even if you have sent the valve it is worth asking if he has checked the clearance as they only do work that you ask them to and have quoted for.

It was quiet an honor for me to speak to Stan Stephens, legendary LC tuner. 8)

I know exactly what you mean mate I think mines been off the
road for around 7 weeks now and I am bored shitless commuting
on my four stroke.

I just hope the bitch fires up when I get it all back together
and not having to still chase electrical faults.
