This is probably a simple task but i thought i would ask anyway. I have a rear rim lock to fit, i was wondering if i can jack the back wheel free of the ground and just pop open a section of tyre and fit the rim lock or is it a tyre off job?
Any tips people

Bugger, so that tyre off, fit rim lock loosely then tighten up when tyre re applied? Do you tighten it up after inflating the tyre? I dont really have a clue!

Sorry I may have mislead you.

WHEEL off. Deflate and take one side of the tyre off the rim. Then muscle the rim lock between the inner tube and the side of the tyre that is not out. Push the bolt through the hole in the rim and put the nut on it just a couple of turns to stop the lock popping back into the tyre. Then put the side of the tyre back in making sure it fits between the rim and the lock. Pump up to seat tyre and then reduce pressure to what you want. Then tighten up rim lock and away..........

I have found this such a bugger to do on the bikes that I have had, I tried to leave them off and use a higher pressure in the tyre to stop the rim slipping round (and subsequently got very few pinch puctures ). I had to do it on an EC250 but not on WR250, CRM250 and other smaller bikes.

If you are going to use tyre pressures under 13psi then you almost certainly need a rim lock.

just be carefull that you dont trap the tube between the rim/tyre and the vrim lock,of course this has NEVER happened to me!

rocks in the peaks NEVER whos told you that? all flat and hardpck dead easy mate i wouldnt bother with any armour all the lanes have pillows along the sides of them incase you fall off i may even join you yet il have to see how the old peeper feels

yeah,get yourself out blindy!.ed if its as cold next weekend as it was yesterday i suggest you wrap up warm.i took 3 of the guys from the throttle monkey forum up there so they could ride some of the more technical routes and froze our asses off .
i had a cracking off on the tarmac b4 we even got to the first lane,involving sheet ice,a bent set of bars,knackered mx trousers and brand new gloves,oh and enough embarassment to fill an opera house but you can read more when i do the ride report later
