iv just bought a new set of bars that are slightly higher bend than standard which is what i wanted but they are also shorter by about an inch on both sides, before i fit them i just thought id ask if anyone has used anything like this and was it any better or worse being a bit shorter

Seriously though, you will probably have a bit less leverage on the bars. Cant see that being a big problem though. Try them

dont know about these specific bars, but when i bought my bike it had some new standard renthals on it. after the first outing on the trails, i imediately swapped them for a set i had in the garage. They were quite high with a slight rear tilt, which ment that going up hill you had to either hang on for dear lfe or bend right over to get the weight forward. the replacements ment that i could just lean forward to shift the weight. shame as they wee almost new. gave them to a mate for his mountain bike in the end...

I was told this by an offroad guru. Get down on the floor and do the maximum press ups you can do. Before you get up, get someone to mark the outside positions of your hands. Aparently, thats the width your bars should be cut to. The guy who told me this, sets up bikes for pro riders for a living. Havenn't tried this myself, but I'm going to.
