I've spent time today trying to fit disc covers and new chain/sprockets, which I got from LT last week. Cost an arm and a leg. The covers were fitted without problems apart from having to drill and tap pads for the rear cover.

I have a 13t x 47t set up - the 'o' ring chain is too long and I'll have to remove a link, this should put the snail adjuster on mark '10' approx., so plenty of adjustment left.
But at this setting the rear wheel is too forward and traps the Splash Guard (sorry don't know proper description) against the swing arm.
Just wondered if this is normal, because when the bike is wheeled backwards the splash guard moves out between the wheel and swing arm. Not pretty!

Also, do you have any tips for removing chain link and fitting without a chain tool.

mine never touched when moved right forward you have some monster nobley on it ??

i think nabz is correct here, you must have a mx tyre or similar as they should touch unless right in on adjustment. a way of spliting the chain is with a grinder ( bench or angle) and knocking the link out. Jon

Not quite sure what you are meaning but if the guard that sits under the airbox between the tyre and the swing arm is touching the tyre it is too close. If you have a proper O-ring chain it will not stretch much before it wears out. So move the rear wheel back until it is well clear of the 'splash guard' and adjust the length of the chain accordingly.

I've a relatively new MITAS C-02 CROSS and the tread is pretty deep.

I'll try and do as KnackeredMK1 suggests, but I think leaving the chain, as is, will be too long for the snail adjuster.

take the gaurd off and do a burn out for about 5mins should sort it

I managed to take one too many links out of my chain, so the wheel was touching the poo guard, so took the poo guard off.

I'd protect your rear shock somehow otherwise all the crud that plasters on that guard will be on your shock then your shock will start leaking and cost you more pennys.

i think you can get a neoprene sock that fits over the shock spring. I know they do them for quads so i reckon you might find something.

I have exactly the same problem and ironically am also running Mitaz tyres which are fantastic and have some seriois nobbles which is what you need off road, is it not!! I use my bike 98%off road and need a full motorcross tyre. Did you find a fix?

My trye actaully ripped the plastic protector to pieces. Poor design if you ask me as the guard should still fit when wheel is forward. The sock idea sound good, failing that may make my own protector.
