hi any one no why theres black oil coming from the exhaust clamp were it meets the engine is this normal and now i seem to have sprung a leak from the sprocket aswell so anyone no if these jobs are hard to fix as i want to have a go but not cock it up hope you can help cheers .jay.

the sprocket leak is just a seal and simple to replace. as for the exhaust manifold leak, Is it definitly oil and not carbon stained petrol? try giving it a whiff, it maybe a shot piston ring -- also easy to replace or a dodgy gasket

Just to add, if it is petrol it will still have the consistency of oil, because of the premix.

only other thing I can think of if it isent petrol is the worse case scenario, clutch side crank seal. not as simple to fix.

Has the exhaust started to emit large amounts of smoke?
Check to see if its using gearbox oil .
Check autolube pump, is it fully returning, check cable for free movement that controls the pump, there is normally a splitter capsule under the tank where you can , very carefully drill a small pilot hole [just big enough for a wd40 straw on the under side to get some lube oil in without having to take the whole shooting match to bits,

Are you meaning that black oil, almost like tar, is leaking from where the cylinder meets with the expansion chamber? If so you have an exhaust leak.

It is quite usual on a 2 stroke of a certain age. You need to seal the leak with a new gasket and/or some exhaust sealant. As for the black oil as has been previously said there can be a number of causes and general wear of components is the most likely cause. Either strip the cylinder & piston and replace/repair as necessary or live with it if it's not too bad and there is no marked deterioration in performance; but you will ned to fix it sometime.
