chain life
how often do people adjust there chains, i'm mostly road and have stupidly low gear and have to take it up a notch once a fortnight (2-300 kms) does this seem right?
as long as it doesn't come off the sprocket when you pull it can you take lnks out to take up some of the slack?
also how long should you boil a chain in grease for to get it throughly refreshed (I have removed all the oil off my old one now and will probably put my 42 tooth sprocket back on after bogbusters)?

I rid about 60% road and the rest on dunes/beach and a really awful rutted road, that eats my chain.
the last 300k needed 3 notches adjustment so I reckon your chainwear is alright.
as for taking links out of a chain thats alright only if its brand new out of the box. Do it to an old chain and its kinda dicey

ah.
the thing is the new chain was at 28 notches after I had to shorten it. should I have taken some more out then do you think?
oh well at this rate it's 2 chains a year for me then.
where abouts do you ride on anglesey then? we have friends with a boat they take to cammaes bay and we know rhosneigr quite well too.

I had to shorten the last chain I put on to get it to the lower end of the tensioner.
Theres not a lot of obvious places on anglesey for the crm but I've got good access to the other end of the beach from rhosneigr Feds come down now and again but I've never seen em, and the golfers in rhosniegr dont like it if i go ring ding ding past em (on a public road)
If you want to ride on open sand theres always the \"inland sea\" behind the RAF camp.
when the tides out
