picked up my new bike last friday and have to admit i love it much more than my last mk2.

One thing though, my mk2 used to run "chokey" when the choke was on.. but this mk3 starts to rev its nuts off when its warmed up and the chokes on, soon as its flicked off again it settles down again.

Air leak? or are they supposed to do that and it was my mk2 that was wrong ?

Only leave the choke on for the minumum amount of time. Might be a air leak :?: .

thought as such,

i dont put it on when its warm lol... that would be stoopid :P

but when cold , id put it on choke, itll start first kick... tick over.. then suddenly after about 30 secs or so.. itll start revving quite high ... in the region of 4000 rpms or so... flick the choke off and itll go away again.

Ill have to check out all the hoses and see whats going on.

Cheers lads

Ah HA problem solved.

In the process of changing the subframe (now nicely painted) i noticed the carb seemed a bit wibbly wobbly on the inlet manifold. So checked.. and the metal clip (god knows what its called but similar to the principle of a hose clip) holding it on had failed. So it was leaking loads of air in. No wonder it never felt very good compared to my mk2!

Anyways now sorted and so so so so so much better :)
