many many many...

part of the problem is that the search facilty ignores words that have been used to many times - so if you search for 'brake disc' it ignores 'brake' - doh! Still it only took me a short time to scoll through the hits I did find the info... ;)

if you have brake fade it is more likely to be that:
your fluid is old and needs replacing,
the brake fluid needs topping up/bleeding,
your hoses are deteriorating and need replacing (do you have the original rubber ones or steel braided?),
or you have a leak - should be obvious.

Your pads and discs only need replacing when down to the min wear limits in normal circumstances.

i had an experiance once on a BMW 650 GS in Rhodes, While descending a lovely sweeping mountain road i completely lost the rear brake. Turns out it is a common problem with the brembo rear caliper when it gets hot, so i'd say, its down to heat transfer. Just change the brake fluid and make sure the float pins are greased well to enable the caliper to move away from the disc.
