no spark

Almost finished the rebuild of my mk1 and discovered I have no spark,checked all connections and they look ok,side stand switch working properly,new kill switch from LT fitted and everything looks as it should but i do have a green wire underneath the clocks with a male connector on it i have no idea where it goes,and i would just like to confirm the colours of the kill switch wires as the one supplied came with a black and yellow/red wires which i have connected to black and green on the wiring loom as they were the only ones available.

Any info greatly appreciated,tried to follow the wiring diagram but the colours are all in japanese

Lost the original kill switch during the rebuild,new kill switch supplied with only two wires i was not aware there were three wires for the kill switch.You don't happen to know the colours of the wires do you ?

I think, but I'm not sure, that the original wiring bundle for the kill switch included a wire for the brake light switch. I have redone the wiring and bought a new switch and as I remember the colours of the new switch don't match the main loom wires. Have you just connected the wires the wrong way :?: .

Try swapping the two wires you have got from the switch between the two wires you have used and the green one you have not; even if the fittings don't match. Try all the permutations.

I've sealed mine in with glued heatshrink tubing so I'm loath to cut it open to check which colours go where.

Okay, looking at the LT wiring diagram with a magnifying glass and asking wifey to translate from Japanese...

Kill switch connects to:
black (it's a 12v feed switched by the ignition)
black/white (goes to CDI which works when it gets 12v)

Brake Light Switch connects to:
black (12v feed - shared with the kill switch)
green/yellow (goes to brake light bulb)

So basically there are three wires going to two switches on the MK1.

Now, your switch is a later model if it has red tracers on the black. You need to check the following match up:

black/white in the loom to the black/white on the kill switch (Output to CDI)
black in the loom to the black/red on the kill switch AND the black on the brake switch (12v feed for both switches)
green/yellow in the loom to the green/yellow in the brake switch (Output to brake light)

You shouldn't connect a plain green (earth) to a black (12v switched feed) under any circumstances. That may be the problem.

Thanks everyone for the help,

Sorted the wiring now. found that the switch supplied by LT is ON when it's in the OFF position and also discovered the ignition switch was not working due to the contacts in the switch being corroded,must be two years since i stripped the bike for the rebuild.
Finally got it running today sounds ok although can't get it to idle very well maybe it'll settle down after a bit of use.

blow the jets out with a cleaner, and make sure the air filter is clean and lightly oiled. then check your oil pump is set correctly. once all this is done, the look for other problems
