Seat Height
Seat Height
First up Hi to all you members! maybe one myself soon!!!
Now to the questions what is the seat height of a CRM250?as I am a short arse! 5`4" ish!!! so I struggle with dirt bikes! also how does it compare to say a DR250/350 or KTM200 EXC? Yeh I know they are different beast just hoping the Honda is somewhere in the middle.
I can source a nice CRM 250 for around £1000 Mrk 2 I think, how capable off road are they? Whant general off road maybe Hare and Hounds! but not expecting to win! just for my pleasure! would this be a good bet?
Thanks
Jack

Re: Seat Height
I'll leave the rest to someone else but there is no way you will touch the ground on a KTM200

I can get them lowered! I ride a 2006 R1 now which is 32" and the KTM is 36" so if I got it lowered and bought the offical lowering seat I rekon I could! but anyhow the question was whats the CRM height not could I fit a KTM!
Thanks

Re: Seat Height
Honda say - Mk1 seat height 880mm, Mk2 (and all others I think
) 885mm.
You can get lowering kits for any bike but they do change the characteristics of the suspension.
Subsequently found AR is 895mm

i've not really looked at/worked on the rear shock area of the CRM much but i believe i need to get some longer dog bones to lower my mk2. are they readily available off of the shelf for the CRM or are they a part that i need to get for another bike and modify?

Re: Seat Height
Most people have just made them at home - you just need some 5mm flat steel, a hacksaw, file and a drill (plus energy and sweat!) you can buy adjustable ones - have a search around the site because this has been discussed before.roryntp wrote:i've not really looked at/worked on the rear shock area of the CRM much but i believe i need to get some longer dog bones to lower my mk2. are they readily available off of the shelf for the CRM or are they a part that i need to get for another bike and modify?knackeredMk1 wrote:Honda say - Mk1 seat height 880mm, Mk2 (and all others I think) 885mm.

Re: Seat Height
Hello rory, there is no official dimensions it is a personal choice, you must keep in mind what knackered said about how it affects the suspension though. Play around, i made my Mk1 higher by Making new Dog bones 10mm shorter, it made quite a difference hey. So play around by just cutting out pieces of flat bar, once you have found your prefered hieght then you can look at shaping them or getting them made out of sheet metal.
Good Luck

Re: Seat Height
The seat height on my CRM mk2 is a good inch or more lower than OH's CRM AR and I don't think it has had anything done to lower it, just to let you know.

Re: Seat Height
mine seems exceptionally high at the moment, easily as high as a stock rm250 i rode last year which was tip toe territory at best. i wonder if someone has previously raised mine and now i just need to return it to the 'stock' settings. either way, hopefully, my old man is going to knock up a few plates for me over the next week or so
