I've just ordered the 2 bearings for the balance shaft - 1x ball and 1x needle and also the seal and wondering how long it should take to do...is it a hard job or a simple 1-2hr job. I know the cases don't have to be split thank goodness as im looking at the parts diagram but are the bearings hard to get to or just an push and pull out?

Any advice would be great and any problems i need to look out for would also be appreciated to make my life easier with it. Have replaced numerous bearings but never had a bike with a balance shaft before and a little hesitant as i've havn't seen it in the flesh in the engine yet

I think that you will find a lot of info on this if you do a search.

You have to take the clutch casing off and remove the clutch to gain access to the balance shaft.
One of the biggest problems you will have is knocking the needle roller bearing out and my advice is to make the tool that is shown in one of the threads.

It is very likely that you find that the bearing face on the balance shaft itself is damaged and this will either need replacing or repair.

did mine about 4 week ago, have you checked the balance shaft for wear marks at the needle bearing end?
if the shaft is goosed, wich i suspect it will be, it needs repairing or your new bearings wont last long.
i have posted up the place that does the repair in the what fits what section.

remove the clutch case and the clutch, take the nut off the balance shaft and it will just push out through the generator side.
its unlikly the bearing on the clutch side will need changing ( mine was fine even though the needle bearing was goosed and making a right racket).if your going to change it any way cos you have it, you need to undo the 2 lock tabs that hold it in place, unfortunatly one of them is behind the gear selector gizmo. to get this out, remove the gear lever, undo the 10mm bolts on the gizmo and pull towards you (be care full not to lose any of the bits that sit in the end of the selector drum)the gear selector shaft does not need to come all the way out, just enough to get to the locking tab that holds the bearing in place.
the needle bearing outer case will most probably cause you some trubble, mine did. i read on here that you can use a dremel with cutting disk to assist with removal but i could'nt get mine in. what i did was reamed out behind the bearing case so i could get a bar in behind it and smash it to bits.
