oil presher! oil pushing out of engine breather!

Post by capt » 08 Jul 2010, 08:41

just had my MK2 engine striped ,because it was pushing oil out of the breather.

We cannot see anything wrong!

the tips I have been given ,crank seals but they look ok ,the spacer on the end of the crank that takes the bigger brown seal has slight marks but still seals ok,but replacing anyway!

all the gaskets seamed fine, there is a small o ring on the oil pump that was slightly perished.

also wear the bike stood for 7 years you can see the rust marks on the crank ,I am having that rebuilt just in case.

I hope I am not missing anything that may need fixing to stop the oil issue!

there is also a seal on the oil pump that seams very lose ,as the pump was removed.

the guy that is repairing the engine is a 2 stroke specialist but has not played with a crm before He also said that he thinks its been apart before and the balance shaft was not lined up with the marks on the cogs correctly,

any more tips please

thanks

Hi Kirk, the commonest cause of blowing oil from the breather is an excess of gear box oil, [overfilled].
Now you have stripped the engine, replacing all the seals [ the second most common cause of problems] should eliminate that as a potential source for problems.
Check the mating surfaces for the crankcase halves, whilst the crank is out, this is the least likely, but occasionally is the culprit for gearbox pressure.
Put the open end of the gearbox breather hose up out of the way in the air box.
