Electrical help !

Hi guys
Well I finally bought another CRM
AN AR 99, loverly red and black
Unfortunately when I got it home I decided to check it over again...
Firstly the tail light was on but wnet out permanently after I tried to test the brake lights (which also diodn't work)
Checked the bulb, which is OK
Traced the wires and decided to remove the headlight (not the wiring, just the two bolts holding it on), moved the light forward with the idea of wiggling wires as the bike was running to see if I can find something loose
Bugger, now it won't start, not spark at all and stuffed if I can spot anything obvious
Any ideas folks, common problems to start me looking in the right places ?
Thanks in advance

Hi Cupid,
There is a good chance that one or more of the connector blocks, that are on a bracket by the speedo cable, have come apart when you moved the headlight.
PS have you seen the link to an English version of the Honda AR workshop manual.

Thanks folks
Yes it seems that it is definately a loose connector as I (thankfully managed to get it started by fiddling with the connectors behind the headlight, though any slight movement of the headlight unit results in the bike dying, so looks like I'll have to strip them all down and re-do the connections properly
Then it will be back to the original problem which caused me to remove the headlight....
No tail or brake lights ?
I'll creat a new thread for help on autolube issues which is next to tackle (why can't folk either leave things alone or do a proper job instead of bodges eh ?

Hi, it might be best to meter out the continuity of the brake switch wire [ and check the switch, they do give grief], to the bulb holder, as they are also renowned for shorting out, and gumming up.
I would start with the bulb holder.

I'm with FMtB. I changed all my brake light switches to pressure switches and my brake light to LED to avoid this kind of problem.

You are probably better off remaking this part of the loom, it only goes as far as a connector by the ecu. All the connectors are available on ebay, crimp and solder them, then use the iron to constrict the shrink tube. In my opinion most of the electronic failures with CRMs are resistance (or lack of) based. BB.
