Hi I have a mk2 which seams to have a lot of end float on the output shaft (where the front sprocket fits) Im not sure if previous owners have lost a shim from inside the crankcases. So my question is how much end float is there on your output shaft? Also does anybody no the correct amount of end float on the balance shaft Cheers Glenn

There should be absolutely NO play in the output shaft.... you might have to scrap your bike I think Glenn!!

Output shaft bearing play is different from endfloat. There should be no play but endfloat isn't automatically a problem. I'd guess that most healthy motorcycle gearboxes have an element of endfloat.

think he means , when yo push/pull in and out of the case in which case there should be very small amount , but its normal, if theres none then things maybe tight of shimmed up wrong

if its the balance shaft i believe you can run the bike with it disconnected anyway and it doesnt make much difference apart from being a bit vibey at top end, if its the output shaft then there may be a little bit of play in th way of push and pull but if theres any other movement theres something seriously wrong

The Mk1 has a compression type oil seal rather than the others that have conventional lipped seal (fits the same inside/outside diameter and thickness). I suspect the seal moves slightly when put under force but I can't feel it with my fingers.
