front sprocket

hello

i have put a new chain on My ar and found the front sprocket to be lose its not hanging of its just got a few mm of play in it should it have this play

its the first time i have put a new chain on a bike and its about my 10th bike

Yes, they rattle about a bit on the splines due to the mounting system. BB

IMO,generally, it's best practice to replace running items like C&S, in sets, the exception is, as a rule CRMs will wear out two front sprockets to one rear, and one chain.
Putting a new chain on dodgy sprockets will wear out a new chain quicker.
To test a chain, pull the chain at the about a point in line with the length of the swinging arm, i to the rear of the sprocket,if more than a few MM can easily be pulled, then the chain is nearing the end of it's working life.
