Is there any other parts other that the plastic drive that go
into the speedo drive, i have bought a new toothed drive
and i cant seem to get it spinning properly in the drive.

yep, been there done that you need a very thin metal washer which fits under the nylon toothy bit, then it works fine. got mine from leasure trail, only a couple of quid, ask them to just send it first class or the P&P comes to more than the part!
