Will dis-connecting the switch harm the CDI etc?
I only ride mine off road and security isn't an isssue, but if I lose/break the key I'm buggered!

Would just joining the wires be OK?

As long as you join the right wires it'll be reet. Thats all the ignition is doing. Or just superglue the key in, or Tie wrap the key to one of the cables
