Plug condition

Post by SkidMark » 03 Sep 2011, 15:12

Hey All,

Just wanted a second opinion on my plug condition after doing a plug chop. I wasn't able to do it in top gear due to road conditions and maxed out in sixth on knobblies on tarmac would be a bit scary I think. Anyway this was maxed out in forth gear for probably 3/4 KM. New plug before I started.

The colouring of the pic isn't the greatest but it was a light brown/tan colour which think mean its good. The oily stuff on the threads is melted copperslip.

What do you all think?

Regards
SkidMark

Hi Mark, light deposits, colour [ for an AR,which always seem to run slightly leaner than other MK,s] looks good.
Did you have concerns?
AR brains know which gear is currently engaged and alter the fuel accordingly , I believe.
I was always nervous of extended road work on my AR,as it always felt like it was running lean, or about to run out of fuel.
I'm sure this concern was misplaced, but just a frame of mind I guess.

I'm not concerned as its running fine but I'm about to take it down for a bit and sort the front end and so wanted to know if the carb is set up before that so I could do all the work at the same time.

Looked fine to me too.
