Drowned the CRM on a recent Wales trip! had to drag it out and pull the plug ect! next time out went through a puddle that a DTR and a DR200 went through no problem, half way through I could hear the engine struggling and about to die, got through just! if I got water in the Alternator would that cause this or is more likely the plug cap coil? anyone seen this? Cause big puddles are fun!!

My guess would be water getting through ur air filter. I have had this happen before on my yz125 in really wet conditions and once I had cleaned the carb out and replaced air filter it was running sweet again.
Just make sure you oil ur filter well and evenly, best way is to wring it out once u've oiled it.

Cleaned the filter yesterday! drained the carb after the sinking!! but what oil do I put on the air filter? and do I cover it or just a little?

there is proper filter oil that should used but if you cant get the proper stuff then find a fairly thick, sticky oil (I've even heard of people using honey!). After cleaning the filter and drying it, saturate the filter in the oil and then squeeze out the excess, after that put it in a clean bag (with some air holes) and let it sit over night for more to drain out. Next morning install and off you go...

U need to get some proper air filter oil, either online or from a bike/mx shop. I personally like stuff called no toil as u can wash it in the washing machine!! U can buy a kit that comes with the oil, cleaner and grease which u put around the bottom of the filter where it fits on to the air box.

If you are going off road this is a must as it will stop any moisture, sand, mud etc getting through the filter and damaging ur engine!!

And if you are struggling out on the trails, some WD40 or similar is better than nothing. You don't want the oil to be too thick otherwise it will restrict the air flow (so the theory says)

Went out today, after cleaning and oiling the airfilter, through some bigish pudles and no problem so, thanks people does not seem to be electrical or at least it was fine today after that work!! I will post a vid of the water soon!
