Mk3 - bike runs but the indicators, lights & horn don't work
A bit of a pain with no battery to power everything, but I'm unsure where to even start checking for whatever fault it is that's causing my CRM to be able to run but not power the lights/horn
Anyone got a suggestion of possible causes & how to test them, please...? I've got a chance to go green laning on 17th & need to be up & running by then so any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot,

I use a PP3 9volt battery in place of the cylindrical capacitor that sits under the headlight. Just disconnect the capacitor and connect the PP3 + to red and - to green.
Have you checked the fuse by the lights switch
.

I'd say the capacitor is disconnected somehow, or has failed. that will loose you the lights or everything really except the engine.

J might be correct
but I've never heard of one going wrong. Sounds reasonable though.

Thanks a lot, gents.
The PP3 trick will make it a lot easier to check, without having to kick it up everytime I need power...
I've checked the little 5A fuse & the capacitor is plugged in correctly but, if my research & wiring diagrams are right, it doesn't make any difference as power goes around it. I've got a copy of the workshop manual with a trouble shooting guide (Ch14-3) & it says to check the headlight relay first, which I've done, & that doesn't seem to be closing properly when power is supplied. Hopefully, a new one should fix it. I was leading a ride around the Lakes a few weeks ago & stuffed my maps down behind the headlamp cowl so might have done some damage to it, then... I'll keep you posted.

Update: Well the replacement headlight relay went in this evening & all is now working as it should be... It was a surprise to find all the lighting power being routed through one relay like that.
Thanks again for the tips - especially liked the battery one :-)
