Hello everyone, I am from Bangkok Thailand
First of all, I would like to say hello to everyone as I am a newbie here. I have just owned the CRM250AR year 1999 since the last Jan. I am a newbie for the world of 2strokes and this forum.
I am happy that there are many CRM owners and still loving it. This bike has ever been popular in Thailand but not for today.
As my topic is now in the section of the technical. So, I would like to ask some technical question if you would not mind. Many thanks in advance.
My bike always shows the Temperature lighting (on the dashboard) whenever I open the throttle, even I just start the engine. I am sure that the engine is not over heat because I just start it. The temperature lighting would turn off if I close the throttle and turn on everytime that I open the throttle. This has happened after I got a strange thing that my headlamp bulb completely exploded during the bike is runing.
So, what wrong to my bike, please?

Re: Hello everyone, I am from Bangkok Thailand
Hi welcome, I would say your throttle line is making a wiring fault, take of the headlight, carefully and then try the same process, and look for any rubbed bare wires.

Many thnaks Mike!!.
I am now trying to sort out what wrong to my bike. Unfortunately, I discover that the bike is now not in a good condition because it did not fire at all. The spark plug did not fire at all. After it has ever run for a while, even the temperature LED would be shown.
I thougth that my regulator may defect and leading to my CDI has gone too. What is it possible for my investigation?
Thanks you.

Re: Hello everyone, I am from Bangkok Thailand
From your previous post I would look at the wiring loom, you need to get hold of a multi meter and start at the output from the generator and follow the circuit till a faulty is found.
Although the reg/rec is a fault that will take out the PGM, it sounds unlikely in this case.

Re: Hello everyone, I am from Bangkok Thailand
Hello Mike,
I have checked all the wiring, especially the throttle cable which may touch the termostat sensor (Temperature sensor). Nothing is abnormal. The temperture LED shows up would be invested again after I can start the engine. My engine now cannot start at all. Thus, I am thinking about the defect of the PGM CDI and regulator. Due to the overcharged power of the regulator which leaded the headlight bulb to explod.
I am thinking that the PGM CDI may defect because my spark plug did not fire at all. I have checked all the electrical which connect to the regulator. There is some voltage from the regulator but the PGM CDI did not fire because no any signal from the PGM CDI. I don't have a tools to check the regulator. So, I just put it to the ground and looking at the sparking fire.
Anyway, I have already ordered the regulator from Electrex via www.wemoto.com. Do you know about Electrex? Are their product ok? I still waiting to check the PGM CDI again after I have got the regulator.
Many thanks again.

Re: Hello everyone, I am from Bangkok Thailand
It's a slow, and fiddly alternative, but hugely cheaper, [see Skidmarks thread on the same subject].

I would update what I got after I got the regulator. I have a plan for the defected PGM CDI if it is suppsoed to really fail. My friend could help to check and fixing it if only fuse or diode inside the PGM CDI fails. But if the eProm or other chip fail, that is a big issue, I have to spend a big money to replace it.
thanks
