Just removed my front brake caliper and discovered that one of the sliding pins has seized up (i've left it over night to soak in wd 40) but the rubber sea around itl is damaged, is it possible to buy theses seals on there own.

Always have a couple hanging in the garage, they fit the rear as well. Never use copper slip near them as it reacts with the rubber, making it swell.

red rubber brake grease instead ?

I've not used that before, normally I just use a waterproof grease, given their location.
Taking them apart a couple of times year makes the job a doddle.

I've used it on the R1 , just put new chain & sprockets on the R1 & after 400 miles its got a blinkin tight spot Grrr

Correct me if I am wrong (quite often as it seems) but any antisieze grease is for NON moving parts.

Hhmmee, Yes, I think I would have opted for a different product, unless that's specifically recommended.

some have diff temp tolerances & other properties like never seez is a very high temp antisieze compound/grease & is ment to be great for the R1 Exup valve where as copperslip tends to get to hot & dry up causing the Exup to stick .
To be honest i use marine bearing grease on most things but then again im a numpty & just trying to help

Thanks Mike, didn't know copper slip causes seals to swell, i've had that problem before when i washed some seals in petrol!
I have ordered a complete set of seals and pins now (pins were really manky!) but like you said i should have ordered some spare rubber boots for what they cost.

Jompy, I've never heard of red rubber grease before, but looking on the web it appears to be the only type to use on any rubber seals, found a small pot for £2.99 (a big pot is £12) so will definately buy one.

Mark i'd never heard of it till recently when i was doing the brake on my R1 , i got a few little sachets from my local motor factors for £1.50 a go & one sachet seemed to do both front calipers
